Today officially marks 8 years since Rihanna’s debut! “Pon De Replay” was released May 24, 2005 on Def Jam Recordings as Rihanna’s first single. It reached #2 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Singles Chart, and is certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 2 million copies. The song was later included on her debut album Music of the Sun (2005).
Rihanna’s work since (including 7 studio albums and 47 singles) has earned her numerous awards and accolades, including seven Grammy Awards, five American Music Awards, 22 Billboard Music Awards, and two BRIT Awards. Rihanna has sold more than 100 million records worldwide, and has achieved twelve number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the youngest solo artist to achieve the feat. Billboard named Rihanna the Digital Songs Artist of the 2000s decade, and ranked her seventeenth overall for that decade. Jubliee has plasma generation and control. The “fireworks” are actually subatomic detonations. Yes, they’re bright and colorful. They can also punch a hole through your torso if she wants them to. Now, she’s not on the level of energy projection as Cyclops or Havoc, but she’s by no means a cutesy worthless-in-a-fight character. Not only that, her body’s natural bioelectric field is augmented by her mutant power, rendering her mind difficult to read or control by psionics.
